Best time to visit Santorini

Santorini has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, mild winters, strong seasonal winds, and abundant sunshine throughout much of the year.

Spring (March-May) becomes steadily warmer and sunnier. May is one of the best months for sightseeing, hiking, and photography before peak summer crowds arrive.

Summer (June-August) is hot, dry, and extremely busy. July and August bring intense sunshine, high hotel prices, and strong demand for sunset cruises and restaurants. The Meltemi wind can occasionally affect boat trips.

Autumn (September-November) begins warm, with September and early October offering excellent conditions for swimming, sailing, and sightseeing with fewer crowds.

Winter (December-February) is mild but quieter and wetter, with many seasonal businesses reducing operations. The best overall times to visit Santorini are generally May through June and September through early October.
