More about visiting Chile

Chile is a strikingly beautiful country characterized by its extreme geography, stretching like a long, narrow ribbon along the western edge of South America. Framed by the towering Andes Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, it offers adventures at the edge of the world.

In the arid north lies the Atacama Desert, the driest non-polar desert on Earth. This otherworldly landscape features steaming geysers, vast salt flats filled with pink flamingos, and skies so clear that it is considered one of the premier stargazing destinations on the planet.

At the opposite end of the country is the wild and untamed region of Patagonia. The crown jewel here is Torres del Paine National Park, a hiker's paradise dominated by massive granite horns, brilliant blue glacial lakes, and sweeping steppes inhabited by wild guanacos.

In the country's center, the modern capital of Chile is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and excellent vineyards. A short drive to the coast brings you to the bohemian port city of Valparaiso, famous for its steep funiculars, vibrant street art, and historic, colorful hillsides.
