What You’ll See

Mt Fuji 5th Station (30 min). Drive up to 2,300 meters on Japan’s most sacred mountain. On clear days, the views are extraordinary. Visit the Shinto shrine and breathe in the mountain air. Important: Mt Fuji is only clearly visible about 30% of the time due to clouds. Clear mornings are most likely in autumn and winter.
Hakone Ropeway (30 min). A sky gondola ride over Hakone’s volcanic landscape with views of Mt Fuji behind you. On clear days, this is the best photo opportunity of the entire trip.
Lake Ashi cruise (30 min). A pirate-ship-style boat across the caldera lake. Relaxing views of the surrounding mountains and forests.

Buffet lunch (40 min). Japanese-style buffet at the base of Mt Fuji with local fresh ingredients. Vegetarian and Muslim-friendly options available on request at booking. If you have severe dietary restrictions, book without lunch and bring your own.
Bullet train return (30 min). Board the Shinkansen at Odawara Station and arrive at Tokyo Station at approximately 6:10 PM. This is the highlight that separates this tour from cheaper alternatives. Instead of sitting on a bus for 2+ hours through traffic, you experience Japan’s iconic bullet train at 285 km/h.
Before You Book

- Weather determines everything. Mt Fuji is hidden by clouds roughly 70% of the time. Best visibility: early morning, autumn (October to November), and winter. The tour operates rain or shine with no refunds for weather.
- If JR Pass holders. If you already have a Japan Rail Pass, book the “Return by Bus” version instead, since the bullet train ticket is already covered by your pass.
- Luggage. No bags exceeding 160 cm total (height + width + length) on the Shinkansen. Travel light or leave luggage at your hotel.
- 5th Station closed June 7+. Due to Mt Fuji climbing season traffic regulations, the tour visits an alternative location instead of the 5th Station from June 7.
- Ropeway may be skipped. If lines are extremely long, the guide may substitute with an alternative stop and a voucher. This is rare but mentioned in some reviews.
- Pickup points. Only two: Matsuya Ginza (7:20 AM) or LOVE Statue Shinjuku (7:50 AM). No hotel pickup.
- Cancellation: free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund.
