The dry season, from October through February, is widely considered the best time to visit. Days are usually bright and pleasant, humidity is lower, and rainfall is limited. This period is especially suitable for exploring the National Museum of Ethiopia, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Entoto Hills, Merkato, and the city's growing café and restaurant scene. Evenings can feel cold because of the altitude, so travelers should bring a jacket or warm layer.

From March through May, Addis Ababa experiences a shorter rainy period, often called the Belg season.
