What Your Day Looks Like
Early pickup (5:00 to 8:00 AM). Pickup time depends on your hotel location and option selected. Earlier departures arrive at Chichen Itza before the crowds and the worst heat.
Chichen Itza (2.5 hours). Your guide walks you through the UNESCO World Heritage site: El Castillo (the Pyramid of Kukulcan), the Temple of the Warriors, the Great Ball Court, and the observatory. Groups split by language at the site, so English speakers get a dedicated English guide. After the guided portion, you have free time to explore, take photos, and browse the artisan market.
Cenote swim (1 hour). A refreshing swim in a natural limestone sinkhole filled with crystal-clear groundwater. Life vests and lockers available. Bring water shoes for the slippery steps and a towel.
Tequila tasting. Sample different varieties and learn about the distillation process.

Before You Book
- Book the earliest departure. The 5:00 AM pickup arrives at Chichen Itza with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures. By midday, the site is packed and the heat is brutal (often 35°C+ with no shade).
- Bring cash in USD or MXN. You need it for the Chichen Itza entrance fee. Cards are not accepted at the archaeological site.
- Sunscreen, hat, water, comfortable shoes. There is almost no shade at Chichen Itza. You will walk on uneven stone surfaces for 2+ hours in direct sun.
- Water shoes for the cenote. The steps down are slippery. Regular sandals or bare feet are risky.
All-inclusive vs. standard. The standard option is cheaper but doesn’t include lunch. The all-inclusive adds the buffet, a drink, and cenote gear. For the price difference, the all-inclusive is better value.
Valladolid can be skipped. On some tours, especially late-running ones, the Valladolid stop is shortened or done as a drive-by. Don’t plan your day around it.
